Reading the spec book154 requirements found

01Today and with Chantro

The same work, without the retyping.

You already know how to do each of these by hand. Here is what changes when the record is shared.

  • Spec books

You check a draft instead of starting from a blank page.

Today: Read by hand with a highlighter, hoping nothing is missed

With Chantro: A drafted scope, with pages cited where given

  • Sub quotes

You see what each sub left out before you pick one.

Today: Retyped from emails and PDFs into a spreadsheet

With Chantro: Pasted in, read for you, and compared side by side

  • Daily reports

The office reads each job's day and its risks in one digest.

Today: Written from memory at the end of a long day

With Chantro: Drafted from the day's work, confirmed in one tap

  • Timesheets

Hours reach payroll without being typed twice.

Today: Paper sheets retyped in the office before payroll

With Chantro: Clock in on the phone, or photograph the paper form

  • Labor cost

You see a job going over budget before it is finished.

Today: Worked out near the end of the job, if there is time

With Chantro: Labor cost against budget while the job is running

02One system

Everything a contractor runs on, in one place.

Estimating, projects, field reports, time and people share one record, so far less gets typed twice.

  • From the spec book to the bid.

Upload the documents. Chantro drafts the scope with the spec page where the documents give one, takes quantities off the drawings and prices them with your numbers.

Requirements read from the spec book, sorted into five kinds.
  • Time your crews get right.

Clock in on the phone or the web, switch projects with a tap, and keep the timesheet layout your crew already knows.

    • Crew sheets for people without a login
    • Flagged days reach the approver first
    • Approved hours become labor cost
  • Ask it like you'd ask your office.

Type or talk. It answers from your own data and does the work, and the big things wait for your yes.

    • Tasks, calendar, projects and leads
    • A confirm card before anything big
    • Voice in English and Spanish on the web
  • Reports that write themselves.

The day's tasks, crew and weather become a draft. The field lead confirms in one tap.

    • One report per project, every day
    • Weather and photos pulled in for you
    • An office digest with the risks flagged
  • Every lead, out of the notebook.

Pipeline, follow-ups and every call in one timeline. A won lead becomes a project.

    • Drag a lead to its next stage
    • A Follow-ups list for what to do today
    • Contacts imported from CSV or Excel
  • Your org chart, your rules.

Your people, their positions and what each one can see, kept in one place.

    • Employees with or without a login
    • A drag-and-drop org chart
    • Permissions that come with each position

03Estimating

How a bid comes together.

Five steps. AI drafts each one, you check it.

  1. Step 1: Read the documents

Drop in the spec book and the drawings. Chantro drafts the scope of work and shows the page each item came from wherever the documents give one.

  2. Step 2: Take off the drawings

It reads the schedules and labels on every sheet, with the sheet and a confidence for each quantity, and you choose what goes into the bill of materials.

  3. Step 3: Price it your way

Prices are checked against your own past estimates where they hold at least three prices for an item. Paste a sub's quote, it's parsed, and you level the bids side by side.

  4. Step 4: Schedule the work

A draft schedule appears as a Gantt chart. Compress it or move it and the dates hold together.

  5. Step 5: Check it and send it

A bid check looks for gaps before it goes out. Export a clean bid PDF with your company name, assumptions and exclusions spelled out.

Quantities read off the drawing sheets and priced into the materials.

04AI you can check

AI that shows its work.

Chantro's AI reads, drafts and suggests. You stay in charge.

How Chantro uses AI
  • It cites its sources

Scope items carry the spec page they came from (SOW p.14) wherever the documents give one, and drawing quantities name their sheet.

  • It asks before the big things

Deleting a task, project or calendar event, changes to people and app access, and edits to an estimate wait for your yes.

  • It learns from your jobs

Price suggestions come from your own company's past estimates and stay inside your workspace.

05Time and labor

From the jobsite to payroll, without the paper chase.

The crew clocks in, an approver checks the day, and approved hours become labor cost on the job and a file for payroll.

Today's tasks, each with its own Start button.

Common questions.

Something else on your mind? Talk to us.

Who is Chantro for?

General and specialty contractors of every size who want estimating, projects, field reports and time in one system instead of spreadsheets and a handful of apps.

Do we have to switch everything at once?

No. Start with what hurts most, usually estimating or timesheets, and add the rest as you go. You can add employees without giving them a login.

What can the AI read?

Spec books and other documents as PDF, drawings as PDF, DXF or images, sub quotes pasted in, and photos of paper timesheets, which draft a form for you to check. For AutoCAD .dwg files, export to PDF or DXF first.

Is the AI always right?

No AI is. That is why Chantro shows its sources where it has them and asks before the big things. It drafts and does the routine work; you check it.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Every feature is in the web app, which opens in any phone browser. The field screens are built for phone width; wide ones, like the org chart and the schedule, are best at a desk. The native phone app is new and covers tasks, the calendar, the assistant and the Time tab. Ask us about getting it on your crew's phones.

Does Chantro run payroll?

No. Approved hours, with overtime and pay periods worked out, export to your payroll as a CSV.

How does pricing work?

Plans start at $149 a month with AI credits included. AI features use those credits; manual work never spends them, and you can see your usage at any time. See the plans or talk to us about your company.
